  • CIDA publishes Future Scan 2024 report

  • CIDA Board convenes leadership summit to forecast implications of Future Scan 2024

  • CIDA launches Strandards Structure Task Force to gather information and assess the efficacy of CIDA’s Professional Standards Structure, including but not limited to elements such as degree of detail, content organization, methodology used to evaluate achievement, etc. Task Force submits final report with recommendations in December 2024

2025

  • CIDA convenes a series of community sessions to continue forecasting implications of future scanning

  • CIDA Standards Committee begins drafting structural framework revisions based on recommendations from the 2024 Standards Structure Task Force

2026

  • CIDA Standards Committee conducts a gap assessment and integrates subject matter revisions from 2024-2025 forecasting work

  • CIDA Standards Committee field tests propsoed structural changes at two stages of standards development, one earlier in the process and one during the public review and comment period

  • CIDA circulates Draft Professional Standards 2028 for public review and comment from Sep 15 - Oct 15

  • CIDA conducts a series of stakeholder sessions to gather feedback about Draft Professional Standards 2028

  • CIDA Standards Committee considers community feedback and refines Professional Standards 2028 before circulating final draft for internal review adn comment with CIDA Board of Directors and Accreditation Commission

  • CIDA Standards Committee makes final revisions and submits final Draft Professional Standards 2028 to the Board of Driectors for adoption (Nov 30)

2027

  • January 15, CIDA publishes Professional Standards 2028 with an implementation date of January 1, 2028

  • CIDA hosts a series of virtual workshops to provide interior design programs with support for implementing Professional Standards 2028 (workshops, guidance, report templates)

  • CIDA trains program reviewers to conduct site visits under Professional Standards 2028

2028

  • Professional Standards 2028 are implemented on January 1, effective for spring 2028 program reviews
