What is the highest and best purpose of interior design?

Interior design is an action as well as an outcome. To act as a designer is to facilitate a process of decision making that engages the creative arts and the functional sciences of human behavior to develop a solution that responds appropriately to the human context. To be in a designed environment is to experience a surround that evokes the spirit, supports emotion, and provides for a fluid interaction with the features of space and others who occupy it with you.
