What is the highest and best purpose of interior design?

Interior design touches the lives of all of us. As we shape space, we subsequently shape how people live their daily lives. Our designs keep us safe, connect us to ourselves and the community, and enable us to achieve our aspirations. Interior designers imagine new possibilities — we are prone to identifying problems and seeking to resolve them. Through the design process, we bring a unique way of thinking that melds analysis with creativity — resulting in solutions that are distinct, practical, and beautiful. We help people visualize better ways of living and interacting in the world by (literally) drawing new possibilities.
