Council for Interior Design Accreditation Board elects officers, appoints new directors
Katherine Ankerson, AIA, FIIDA, FIDEC, NCARB, Dean, College of Architecture, University of Nebraska, Lincoln is currently serving a one-year term as the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board Chair effective January 1, 2021. Ankerson represents accredited interior design programs on the CIDA Board. Vincent Carter, FASID, Principal at VGCAI, Baltimore and Accreditation Commission representative, was elected as CIDA’s Chair-elect. CIDA Director Felice Silverman, FIIDA, Principal at Silverman Trykowski Associates, Inc., Boston and Board liaison to the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), serves as Secretary-Treasurer.
Two new appointments were made to the nine-member CIDA Board of Directors for 2021-2023. Margaret Portillo, Ph.D., FIDEC, ISCC, was appointed as liaison to the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC). Portillo is the Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives, College of Design, Construction and Planning at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Susan Wiggins, CAE, Hon. IDC was appointed as public representative on the CIDA Board of Directors. Wiggins is the Executive Director of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute in Toronto.
The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree-granting interior design programs. There are 175 CIDA-accredited programs in the U.S., Canada, Qatar, and the UAE.
